Fancy Spike Mice breeds for genetically well tempered Fancy Rats. What We mean by that is our ultimate goal is to provide the public with rats that are so friendly and loving from birth itself. We believe in bettering the rat species as a whole and want our rats to exhibit this. We provide controlled breeding with planned pairing. We evaluate temperaments to ensure minimum standards are met for each rat we breed before providing them to the public.

Fancy Spike Mice does not condone keeping lone rats, so we require all rats to go home in pairs, unless you already have rats at home. Proof may be required. Because we are still working on our lines, we would prefer them to go to PET ONLY homes with NO breeding rights. In some rare cases, we may allow rats to go with breeding rights, but another application would have to be filled out and it must be mentioned the rat originated for me so it would be easier to track any problems or good things associated with my rats.

Because I am a newer breeder, I am still working up my rats. As of November, 2018, I have raised my standards for my rats and will be taking a bit longer to produce and distribute them to anyone on my waiting list. I apologize, but it will definitely be worth the wait!

We REQUIRE an application to be filled out and approved prior to any rats going home. It's a digital contract, please contact me to fill it out and be put on the waiting list.

My rats go home around 8 to 14 weeks, to their approved home. Last placement evaluation will be done at 6 to 8 weeks. AS LONG AS THEY PASS, their new families can place a $5 nonrefundable deposit on them via PayPal to hold.

That fee will go towards their whole fee. The remaining fee can be paid at any time between then and going home via PayPal or in person.

I retire rats after they have had 2 to 3 litters or a male is no longer needed. If you're interested in an older rat, please let me know as I may have some available now or in the near future. Some are retired even sooner if I replace it before then.

If you are NOT satisfied with your rat, we will replace it, as long as it is within 90 days of taking home. After 90 days, you may return your rat but no replacement will be made.
We do not place any rats with a previous history of aggression or biting. If your rat DOES exhibit bad behaviors, please DO let us know as we like to track everything.

Himalayan/Siamese: Currently producing poor Himalayan/Siamese. Dumbo/Top Ear. Standard/Rex Coats.
Black Selfs: Currently producing with BERKSHIRE markings. Trying to get to pure self coats, no mismarked.
Black Eye Whites: Currently Producing Low Markings... Working On It! :D
Recessive Hairless: Have Recessive Hairless Male (Verified, 4 litters standard coats only produced), Very slow progression, Thank you for your patience.

We offer a few more colors and markings. We try to maintain a variety to suit everyone! We also produce quite a few pink eye white and agouti. Hooded is also common in my lines.
